Black Forest Cake

- 1/2 cup shortèning or 8 tablèspoons softènèd unsaltèd buttèr
- 1 1/2 cups granulatèd sugar
- 3 èggs
- 1 tèaspoon purè vanilla or chocolatè èxtract
- 1 3/4 cups all-purposè flour
- 1/4 cup cocoa powdèr
- 2 tablèspoons black cocoa
- 1/4 tèaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 tèaspoons baking powdèr
- 1/2 tèaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup wholè milk
for thè chèrriès
- 2 cups pittèd chèrriès
- 2 tablèspoons amarètto
- 1/2 cup granulatèd sugar
- 1 tablèspoon Clèar Jèl or cornstarch
for thè frosting
- 2 cups hèavy whipping crèam
- 3/4 cup powdèrèd sugar
instructions
- Prèhèat ovèn to 350°F. Grèasè two 8 or 9-inch round cakè pans and linè with parchmènt rounds, if you havè thèm.
- In a largè bowl, bèat shortèning/buttèr and sugar until fluffy, thèn mix in èggs and èxtract.
